European cars models as: Smart ForTwo, Fiat Stilo and Volkswagen Phaeton standings lead with biggest loss makers. This is clear from an analysis conducted by the brokerage firm Sanford C. Bernstein.
With Smart ForTwo (1997-2006), Daimler lost 3.35 billion euros, equivalent to 4,470 euros per car sold.
With Stilo (2001-2009), Fiat lost 2.1 billion euros, equivalent to 2,730 euros per car and with Phaeton (2001-2012), Volkswagen lost 1.99 billion euros, (28,100 euros per car).
Also, the loss per unit champion is sports carcBugatti Veyron (2005-2013), with over 4 million per unit, followed by Volkswagen Phaeton (28,100 euros), Renault Vel Satis (18,719 euro) and Peugeot 1007 (15,380 euro).
